Stanford DEFCON is a student-run conference operating under the Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation at Stanford University. Its stated mission is convening today's and tomorrow's national security leaders to turn emerging technology into American advantage in an era of strategic competition.
The 2026 edition runs across two days. The career fair takes place on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 6 at Encina Hall. The main conference follows on Wednesday, October 7 at the Hoover Institution, with six panels and a fireside chat with Director Owen West.
