1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using sitreps.com ("the Platform"), operated by Sitreps2Steercos ("we," "us," "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

• You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account or use the Platform.
• You do not need to be a veteran or service member to use the Platform, but our services are designed for the military and veteran community.
• By creating an account, you represent that the information you provide is truthful and accurate.

3. Account Responsibilities

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must notify us immediately at leadership@sitreps.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use the Platform to:

Prohibited Content

• Post content that is defamatory, obscene, threatening, or harassing
• Share hate speech or content that discriminates based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or veteran status
• Post sexually explicit material
• Share content that promotes violence or self-harm
• Impersonate another person, including falsely claiming military service, rank, awards, or veteran status ("stolen valor")
• Post personally identifiable information of others without their consent ("doxxing")

Prohibited Activities

• Spam, including repetitive posts, unsolicited commercial messages, or bulk messaging
• Solicitation of money, donations, or financial information from other members
• Promotion of multi-level marketing (MLM), pyramid schemes, or predatory financial products
• Recruiting for organizations, companies, or causes without prior approval from Sitreps2Steercos
• Attempting to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, the database, or platform infrastructure
• Scraping, crawling, or automated data collection from the Platform
• Using the Platform to distribute malware or malicious links
• Circumventing security measures, rate limits, or moderation tools

Specific to Veteran Community

• Do not provide professional advice in forums on legal, medical, financial, or VA claims matters. Peer support and personal experience sharing is welcome, but do not present yourself as a licensed professional unless you are one.
• Do not target vulnerable members — veterans in transition may be in difficult circumstances. Predatory behavior (financial scams, exploitative job offers, emotional manipulation) will result in immediate ban.

5. User-Generated Content

Your Rights

• You retain ownership of content you post on the Platform (posts, comments, stories, messages).
• By posting content, you grant Sitreps2Steercos a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, and promote your content on the Platform and our social media channels. This license ends when you delete the content.

Our Rights

• We may remove any content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines at our sole discretion.
• We may anonymize or retain content for community continuity after account deletion (e.g., forum posts attributed to "Deleted User").
• We are not obligated to monitor all content but reserve the right to do so.

Content Accuracy

We do not verify or endorse user-generated content. Information shared in forums, success stories, and profiles reflects individual experiences and opinions, not professional advice from Sitreps2Steercos.

6. Community Features

Forums & Discussion Boards

• Posts are visible to all registered members.
• You may report posts that violate these Terms using the report function.
• Moderators may edit, remove, or lock posts and threads at their discretion.

Profiles

• Profile information you provide is visible to other registered members by default.
• You control what optional information to include on your profile.
• Do not include sensitive information (SSN, financial account numbers, medical records) in your profile.

Mentorship

• Mentorship matching is a platform-facilitated connection, not a professional service.
• Sitreps2Steercos is not responsible for the quality, accuracy, or outcome of mentorship interactions.
• Either party may end a mentorship connection at any time.

Messaging

• Private messages are between the participating members and Sitreps2Steercos.
• We may access message content when investigating reported abuse or when required by law.
• Do not share sensitive personal information (SSN, financial details) via messages.

8. Intellectual Property

• The Sitreps2Steercos name, logo, and platform design are our intellectual property.
• You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works of the Platform without written permission.
• Third-party trademarks (military branch insignia, VA logos, etc.) belong to their respective owners.

9. Third-Party Services & Links

The Platform uses third-party services (Supabase, Vercel, Google Analytics, OAuth providers) and may link to external resources (VA.gov, job boards). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party services or linked sites.

10. Enforcement & Consequences

Violations of these Terms may result in:

All enforcement decisions are at the sole discretion of Sitreps2Steercos. We may bypass warnings and proceed directly to suspension or ban depending on severity.

11. Disclaimers

• The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times or free of errors.
• We do not guarantee employment outcomes, VA benefits outcomes, or any specific results from using the Platform.
• Resume tools, resources, and community advice are informational only and do not constitute professional career counseling.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sitreps2Steercos shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, revenue, or opportunities, actions or content of other users, or interruptions in service or data breaches beyond our reasonable control.

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Sitreps2Steercos harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms with a new "Last Updated" date and, for significant changes, sending an email notification. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.

15. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time by contacting leadership@sitreps.com.
• We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these Terms.
• Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately.

Sitreps respects intellectual property rights.
